CareersDigital Designer (3-4 years experience)
Glow is an established, progressive and tight-knit team, specialising in creative marketing communications. We work across all media and are looking to strengthen our digital capability to meet existing and ongoing demand. We are looking for a talented and creative digital designer to work alongside and assist the Creative Director. You will have 3-4 years of commercial digital design experience, evidenced through a strong portfolio.
You need to be passionate about new media and emerging technology, but perhaps more importantly, focused on developing new and exciting creative ideas. You should have a strong conceptual ability, and be able to demonstrate that you have a good understanding of brands and marketing communications.
You should be flexible, fast working, have excellent communication skills and be able to work under your own steam. We are a fun and down to earth team so a good sense of humour is also important!
Note that your portfolio/website is as equally important to us as the experience you list on your CV.
The role
- Design and build websites and web content, which includes front-end design and final production using HTML, CSS, Photoshop and Flash, acting as lead designer as and when necessary.
- Liaise, consult with and take briefs from the Creative Director and/or the Account Team.
- Attend client meetings as required, talk through and present ideas as needed
- Deliver on-brief, consistent, high quality design and artwork across a range of projects, from cutting edge products and services to the more sober corporate marketing projects
- Keep abreast of new trends, styles and technologies within the design arena and share the latest innovations with the Creative Director and the team generally
Team
- Work closely with the Creative Director to ensure the creative approach meets client needs and share ideas with the wider team as needed
- Work with the account team to ensure project work is delivered to deadline and update agency systems/time-sheets as appropriate
- Maintain appropriate filing and storage of artwork and files on the agency network
- Take an active role in team meetings
- Ensure all artwork is signed off by the Creative Director & Lead Account Manager
Skills and competencies
- Exceptionally competent in: Adobe CS3-CS4 (Dreamweaver, Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, (After Effects beneficial)) MS Office, Macs and OSX.
- Good, broad understanding of all common web technologies and associated issues such as HTML, JavaScript, CSS, AS3 and web standards to deal with issues such as accessibility.
- A sound understanding of web usability and information architecture, including a knowledge of wireframes, mock-ups and prototyping
- Must have worked within a creative agency and have a good understanding of common agency principles and practices
- Demonstrable passion for brands and interactive design.
- A self-starter, comfortable working individually or as part of a project team
- Excellent communication skills
